Dom and I talk often about financial freedom and what that would look like to us, and we keep coming to the same place…
It means being debt free AND working towards owning our own business.

Owing family or institutions money puts us in a place where we can’t seem to move forward the way we desire. After discussing home ownership and debt over the last few months, we decided that we’re going to sell our home.

The home we live in is more than 3,000 square feet, and over the next few years, Noah will graduate from high school and be off to college, and Anthony will also be well on his way to living the life he’s always dreamed of.

Facing the reality that we have four grown children (three live away from home) and only one small child at home, we realized that it would be better to have a small modest home with a large gathering area and small bedrooms, than to continue living in a big house with rooms that will not always be occupied.

Over the next few months we’ll be getting ready to put the house on the market. We’ll try to sell the house ourselves first, and if it doesn’t sell after a year or two, we’ll list it with a realtor.

Our dreams of being debt free and owning our home and land outright will be realized (even if it takes us a long time!).

We’ve already started to reduce our flocks. This past weekend we sold our flock of Muscovy ducks and drakes. It was sad to see them go, but, we only plan on keeping our chickens, rooster, rabbits, King Louie and Dottie (Magpie duck and drake).

When we do move, we’ll start a new flock of Muscovy ducks, as well as other animals. One of our goals is to own a larger piece of land so we can have larger animals.

And now the search is on for the perfect new home and land, and at the same time, the perfect large family to purchase our very loved and cherished home.
